The King Emperor George V hall : 1920 - Gandhi Hall

On the occasion of the visit of the king Emperor George the Fifth to Delhi, the college hall was built and was named after him in 1920. The Hall was built by the generous donation of Sir Chinubhai. Rs. 1,92,000 was used to build this Hall. The college Hall was renamed after the father of nation in 1971 as Gandhi Hall. Made of red bricks in the western architecture, the hall has huge windows to facilitate sunlight & cross ventilation.

The wooden paneling inside the hall insulates the hall and provides excellent ambiance. In the year 1950-51, the first convocation of Gujarat university was organized here. Later in the year 1960, in the month of May, the oath ceremony of the first Chief Minister of Gujarat was conducted here.

Many rare portraits of Sir Chinubhai Madhavlal Ranchhodlal, Baronet, The first Principal of the college and honoured citizens of our nation are preserved in this hall. It is unique and exquisite and a treasure of the college.
