Nehru Hall was Built in the year 1964. In the year 1970, Dept. of Drama was established and Diploma in Drama was offered to the students. Later in the year 1976 the Dept. Offered Bachelor's Degree with Theatre Arts. Mr. Jaswant Thakkar was a leading light to start this course. The course mainly deals with literature about theatre, acting and production techniques with regular workshops and enactments.

The Basic Qualification to enrol for any course in the Dept. of Drama is H.S.C. in any Stream. There are 21 seats out of which 5 seats are reserved for girls.The tests are conductd between 15th June to 1st July.

There is an entrance exam for all courses. The exam constitutes of two parts. (1) An objective type examination wherein questions based on GK are asked. (2) In the Second part, There is a practical examination, where the students have to perform soliloquy, Poetry reading, Mime and their impovisation skills are tested.

Since last 37 years, the Department has produced many illustrious and renowned artists. It boasts of an illustrious alumni where in names like Ajit Vacchani, Mihir Upadhay, Nimesh Desai, Vandana Pathak, Niraj Pathak, Government National Awards. Jigar Bundela, Shilpa Thaker and many more famous artists.
